The Budapest Cultural Center in Radom - TOGETHER - ToGetThere International Film Workshop in Poland

Our new partner, the Polish FILMFORUM Association, invited the BCC to the TOGETHER - ToGetThere International Film Workshop, within the framework of the 17th Kameralne Lato Film Festival.

The 17th Kameralne Lato Film Festival was held between July 7-13, 2024, in which film screenings, concerts, and professional programs took place, including several film workshops. One of these was the TOGETHER – ToGetThere workshop, in which the participating young people were divided into mixed groups, each shooting a short film on a social theme. The young film makers, all from 18 to 29 years of age, came from four partner countries: Poland, Hungary, Germany and Italy. The Budapest Cultural Center's Our Culture Short Film Festival represented our country with 11 enthusiastic participants and two of our colleagues, Krisztián Bakó and Sándor Oláh, as group leaders.

After the opening ceremony, all participants took part in lectures – prior to the group split - where they received some theoretical background and professional guidance. This prepared the crew for the joint work, helped them get inspiration, and provided them with clues as to how to write the script and make the storyboard. After the film theory session, they could learn some more about film making tools. Then the participants from the 4 countries participating in the TOGETHER-ToGetThere workshop were divided into three groups of mixed nationalities. Each group was led by a film specialist, dedicated to assisting their team and generally providing guidance. Team members worked together to develop the synopsis, script, and storyboard of their planned social advertisement, and started filming on external and internal locations, using professional equipment provided by the festival. During the creative process, the participants could try out several roles, so everyone found their most fitting position in film making. The recorded material was cut in a professional studio, and the end products were screened on July 13 in the Elekrownia Cinema in Radom, at the closing event of the workshops, as well as at the closing ceremony of the 17th Kameralne Lato Film Festival, in the Concert Hall of the Oskar Kolberg.

The Budapest Cultural Center was honored to join this series of high-quality events. It was delighting to see how open-minded the new generation of young filmmakers were, as well as how quickly and easily they found their voice with peers from other nationalities and cultures. The Hungarian team members were no exceptions; they also made new friends and gained experiences during the creative process of making short films.
