Jazz Concert in Mikulov
The renowned jazz festival evening in Mikulov, Czech Republic, is held every year in honor of the town's native saxophonist and composer Karel Krautgartner. The event took place on Friday, June 6th this year.
The highlight of the day is when a significant Czech jazz musician receives a bronze star carved into the stone of the street in front of Krautgartner's birthplace. This year, Jiří Stivín's name has been immortalized. At the inauguration, the 82-year-old musician dazzled those present with his jazz improvisations, as he can play countless wind instruments sparklingly. After the afternoon performance of the Mikulov Jazz Petit ensemble, the evening concert also featured the Richard Hora Big Band conducted by conductor Jan Hála, singer and actress Lucie Černíková, and the male quartet The Swings led by Petr Hanzlík.
On behalf of the Budapest Cultural Center, international cultural referent Krisztián Bakó took part at the jazz concert in Mikulov.
