Polish Partner Visit at BCC

Two representatives of the Polish non-profit organization Instytut Family Center paid a preparatory visit to the Budapest Cultural Center (BCC), where they presented the concept of their latest Erasmus+ project. The initiative entitled “Orion: Supporting the Development of Natural Competences in Adult Education” aims to strengthen participants’ connection to nature through the scientific approach of astronomy.

The project’s main objective is to improve the quality of activities for elderly people living primarily in post-industrial areas by introducing innovative methods. The community-based approach of amateur

astronomy plays an important role in the programme: participants can not only expand their individual knowledge, but also carry out observations together, share experiences, and analyze their findings collectively.

The office of Instytut Family Center is located in the town of Bytom near Katowice, where the international coordinator of the Budapest Cultural Center had previously visited another project. The Polish organization’s partners from Germany and Italy are also involved in the project, and the Polish senior participants will visit these countries as well.

The mobility programme in Budapest will take place in October 2026, during which the Budapest Cultural Center will play a key role as the host institution. As part of the programme, participants will learn about the institution’s history, current activities, and future plans. In line with environmentally conscious principles, part of the journey will be carried out by train.

The mobility also aims to strengthen European awareness: besides discovering Budapest’s architectural heritage, the Polish senior group will also become acquainted with the city’s cultural legacy.
